i couldn't find a logo for the original WarCraft-Orcs and Humans game, so for now these are all you get.
I got started in the WarCraft story in the very beginning, when the first shareware test of WarCraft-Orcs and Humans came out. it was so amazing, that i had to have the whole thing, and then i got the full version, and here i am, still playing that tired old original game... when WarCraft 2 was released, i was even more ecstatic.
But there were some setbacks... the fact that every local store was sold out of the product before it even hit the shelves was a major downer. It was all but impossible to get ahold of the new WarCraft 2 in our decrepit little city. However, my then-fiancee's father found the thing in an Office Max at an exorbitant price <it was literally highway robbery> and purchased it for me as a Yule gift. Amazing.
So then the Expansion pack came out... and a good friend of ours installed it on our machines. for playing on the LAN, you know... recently we purchaed the WarChest from WalMart for $19.95 on sale. With a new and improved version of WarCraft, and a new copy of WarCraft 2 and including the Expansion pack. Well worth the price.
We download lots of maps and scenarios from the Internet, as well. we also purchased a couple of the multi-map packs that are available... in total we installed about 1200 new maps at one time or another to play over the LAN. most were sort of "eh" or "so-so", but there were a few, which we still have, that were well worth playing. some very fun maps, in fact.
When we need a break from StarCraft, Diablo, HellFire, Quake, Descent 1 and 2, or the myriad other games we have, or even in between studying rules for WarHammer 40,000, we do still break out the old WarCraft or WarCraft 2 and fight a couple missions there.
