Gut me, Baby!!
This game is *NASTY*
Not like a typical horror movie where it's all in your face, and you come into it with your eyes open, no, this is a horrific seed planted that infests your brain, and haunts you with grossness and ickyness to the extreme. It's So nasty I have to uninstall it from time to time so I can get away from it because it gives me nightmares. And I *LIKE* slasher movies.
No, this is something else altogether.
Sure, it's a Doom Clone. One man, different guns, lots of stuff to kill. But while Doom only enchanted you with a stray pentagram here and there and badass minotaurs, Blood takes this enchantment to a whole new level.
Disgusting zombies moaning "more brains" and fat men who already look dead demanding "join us" while spewing fish and vomit at you..
Thing isn't your friend, running after you on his five digits wanting to jump on you and choke you to death.
Are you arachnophobic? You will be.
Fire-Breathing wolves, one eyed monks, and gargoyles. Makes you start to think the only safe place to be is in the water.
Go ahead, jump in, there's some ugly mothers in there who'll circle you and proceed to kill you while roaring at you. And if they don't get you, the pesky pirahanas will.
Now the game starts out at a basic speed. You get a feel for killing things, and kicking heads. There's even mimes to kill for your amusement. But the farther you go, the deeper the madness gets.
Rooms moan at you in this repetitive tone that makes your brain itch after awhile. There are corpses hanging in all sorts of positions and in all sorts of throes. There are bloody torture devices, and labs.
It really starts to get to me after awhile, so I stop playing and delete the game from my hard drive, just so I can escape the effect it has on me.
They did an excellent job on this game. With the combination of everything, graphics, music, and themes, It's enough to keep me addicted enough so I'll come back.
There's even some cute little movie themes on certain levels.
There's Freddy's Hat and Sweater hanging on a wall, Jason's Mask and Knife...ever seen Seven? Remember Sloth? Well there's a room you wander into that has a bunch of those pine tree air fresheners hanging from the ceiling, and the word sloth splashed across the wall. There are the chains from HellRaiser, and more.
It's a deliciously disgusting setup.
