I used to be christian. Fortunately I got better. Not all christians are rotten and evil, I am aware. Lots of them are, including so called respectable individuals who hold alot of clout in life. It's taken a long time, but I'm almost ready to resign to the theory that it's not God who's so bad, but his followers. The people who wrote the bible, the people who got their grubby little hands on it and mistranslated it according to their selfish desires and motivations. The people who say what they want and try to get people to swallow it, either assuming or misleading people to believe that God would support such ideas and conceptions. I try to believe that Jesus was a pacifist and never would have gone for or endorsed at least 75% of the attitudes displayed among modern christianity. I try to believe that God really is merciful and is just biding his time till his asshole minions find their way home to get a big fat omnipotent spanking.
It's the intolerance that most of them display and the holier than thou yet hypocritical attitudes that sicken me. Nobody's perfect, but the fact that they refuse to admit that they aren't the be all end all just sabotages their hope for the followers that would sincerely benefit their cause. But that doesn't seem to make a difference. It's a completely obsessive and kamakazi way to fight and expand. But tell that to Pat Robertson.
