DIAMOND TONEHOLE FILES FOR SAX

These are the smoothest, fastest cutting files you can buy. Nothing compares to diamonds. The rotary tone hole file set comes with 6 machined discs/pilots ranging from 12mm to 50mm in diameter (suitable for Alto's & Tenors). The discs can be used to check the flatness of a tone hole by placing a disc (bare metal side down) over a tonehole and using a leak light. To file down high spots of a tone hole, the file is placed on the tonehole and turned with a wrench while applying pressure. The image to the left shows an assembled tone hole file and smaller disc for locating in the tonehole. The ball end allen wrench driver prevents tilting of the file on the tonehole. Works great for repair shops and other high volume work.

Special 1-3/4" low C file and 2-1/2" Baritone files are available. Seven inbetween size plastic pilots are extra. Go to my prices/ordering page to order replacement diamond skins.

DIAMOND TONEHOLE FILES FOR FLUTES

JS flute tonehole files come supplied with your choice of #300, 600 or 1200 grit diamond abrasive which cuts fast and smooth. These high quality finishing discs are made of precision surface ground steel with diamonds embeded directly into the metal. These are the only files that give you a perfectly flat tonehole quickly and easily every time. Other files are a slow struggle in comparison. For a fine finish I recommend the standard 600 and then the 1200 grit finishing discs. The 300 grit discs are better for student quality flutes or general roughing in. The back side of each steel disc doubles as a surface guage to check for perfect flatness of the tonehole.

DIAMOND CHAMFER TONEHOLE FILES
JS diamond chamfer files will take off the sharp corners on the inside and the outside of the toneholes. This process is essential for creating tonehole rims that do not tear into the pad skin. There is no sandpaper to change because the diamonds are embedded directly into the metal. This means less down time and more labor savings. Be sure to place a few drops of light oil on the diamonds to help keep them from clogging. Then place the appropriate size file over the tonehole and turn by hand. Some toneholes are out of round and it may be necessary to push towards one side so that the entire circumference of the tonehole gets de-burred (check under magnification as you go). Be careful not to take off too much metal. If the files need cleaning, use an ultrasonic cleaner (or a needle). 5 grinding surfaces are included. Each of the concave grinders has a protruding outer plastic ring which prevents accidentally scratching the flute body. JS diamond chamfer files are the perfect companions for JS diamond tonehole flatteners.
